Aika Kirei is a writer and filmmaker based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. She began her filmmaking career as a self-taught editor and producer, collaborating on a number of productions with local and international directors, including projects for Humboldt Forum, PichaTime, and Nafasi Art Space.

A National Geographic Explorer, NEWF Fellow, and PADI certified advanced open water diver, Aika has worked with a variety of organisations, including UNICEF, World Wild Fund for Nature, and Blue Ventures. 

Her work has won international awards and has been screened at multiple festivals around the world as well as to thousands of pupils in Tanzania - raising awareness and positively influencing behaviours and attitudes toward conservation.
